I used different colored peppers and didn't measure the ingredients exactly and I idea information technology was not bad! I used chocolate-brown rice, actress garlic, and cooked it for a total of 1.five hours. Great flavor, I will be making again!!!
03/09/2014
This is a great recipe. I used ground turkey and italian turkey sausage instead of beefiness. The turkey is lower in fat which offsets the addtional cheese that I add.

Made these terminal night for dinner changed a few things. I let the rice simmer in beef broth, sautƩed the onions, garlic added carrots and celery with Montreal spice.I also sautƩ the beef prior to stuffing the peppers. Mixed everything together calculation grated cheese and breadcrumbs. The stuffing was astonishing! Stuff peppers and broil in oven at 350 for 45 min. Also plant a zucchini in the fridge. Very delicious!!!! A must try very easy and quick

Although I made a few minor changes I must say that these are the all-time e'er!! I didn't take chunky tomato sauce and then just used canned chopped tomatoes and added tomato sauce to get the right corporeality. I used shredded pepper jack instead of parmesean. Biggest change was to use my Dutch oven instead of wasting parchment paper and foil. Still followed the temperature and fourth dimension and they came out perfect! Thank you!!

Our favorite blimp pepper recipe! Nosotros merely needed 3 medium sized peppers for our family, so I adjusted to one lb. of beef and i loving cup of rice. Still only used half the stuffing mix. I fabricated 4 large meat assurance with the remaining, boiled them in beef goop, then drained and put in the fridge. I also saved remaining pan drippings. Ii days later, I skimmed fat off the pan drippings, poured it over the meatballs, and heated in covered dish in the oven. Served on egg noodles (tossed with butter & basil after cooking). Yummy once more. Will add together a lilliputian pork sausage next fourth dimension, equally suggested.
02/06/2014
The whole family unit actually enjoyed this 1.add a few alterations though. I did not put the tops back on and replaced 1 lb of the hamburger with a lb of hot breakfast sausage. I also put mozzarella and parmesan cheese in the stuffing mix. Then I sprinkled pepperjack cheese on acme during the last 10 min in the oven.

Update: I have made this soooo many times at present. My family unit loves it, and I generally brand this, due to the colour variations, for Christmas Eve every year. I wish I could find a way to thicken the sauce, but information technology's just the way it goes; wait a brothier sauce with some fat from the beef. However, this my go-to and simply stuffed pepper recipe. Thanks again, years later. / Had leftover jasmine rice and have been wanting to make stuffed peppers for a while. I never used a recipe before for stuffed peppers, but this is going in the volume. I love everything most it. I scaled to 4 servings, and for the "mesomorphic tomato plant sauce", combined 8oz. can of tomato sauce and a xv oz. can of tuckered, diced tomatoes. As well used ground sirloin, and ruby-red peppers. Followed the directions. Piece of cake to put together and baked it for 90 minutes. All I can say is succulent!!! Take passed on the recipe to my siblings before even finishing my dinner. THANKS!

It may but exist a deviation in preference, but these weren't our favorite stuffed bong peppers. Stuffing with raw meat and baking yielded drier meat that was sort of caked together, rather than the crumbly, saucy peppers that we were hoping for. Flavor was pretty skillful, although I might use 1/ii of the garlic this recipe calls for if I were to make information technology once more.

I made this today for tiffin and information technology was a BIG hit. I actually assembled it yesterday afternoon and refrigerated it overnight. I made it as written except for slightly less table salt. It was excellent! In the past I accept made these where you lot blanch the peppers showtime and brownish the basis beefiness. I thought this was so much easier, fifty-fifty though it does accept longer in the oven. The garlic and parmesan cheese gave the dish a wonderful flavor. I'grand looking forrad to making with half sausage, half basis beefiness next time. The only thing was that I had to cook it longer than the recipe states. My peppers were large and I take a gas oven which ever tends to have longer. I even bumped the temperature up a bit for the outset half hour, but it still took just shy of two hours. Thanks for the recipe!
02/11/2014
This is undoubtedly the all-time pepper recipe I've ever eaten. I added a piffling Italian sausage to the burger and likewise some herbes de provence to both the sauce and the meat. Wonderful!
01/23/2015
I make stuffed bell peppers all the fourth dimension, only I have never thought to flatten the bottoms or poke holes so the juiced drain. And then smart! I am too going to try putting the peppers on a raised cooking sail and so the peppers don't swim in juice the whole time. I highly recommend putting aluminum foil downwards every bit well to help with cleanup. These tasty buggers make a mess.
11/18/2014
OMG. Absolutely loved this recipe. Best stuffed pepper's I've ever treated my mouth to. Next time, I've going to endeavour and layer the meat/rice mixture with either Ricotta or Cottage cheese(whichever I take, volition drain cottage cheese). This recipe really is amazing, though it did take a bit longer than I imagined to do the prep work. Well worth information technology though. I used basis turkey to make mine.
04/22/2014
This is so practiced!!!!! I used Hot Italian Turkey Sausage (remove the castings) instead of ground beefiness, and used chicken broth instead of beef broth. Absolutely fabulous!!!!!
07/24/2014
This was succulent! I used meatloaf mix (pork, beefiness, veal) instead of ground beef and regular not chunky tomato sauce. I also plant that nosotros liked it much improve with ruby-red, yellow, orange peppers vs. the green!
11/15/2016
I generally used this recipe as a guide and then, as I usually practice, doctored it up appropriately. Instead of hamburger, I used Italian sausage. I precooked everything so broil time was quicker. I utilise marinara, chop up the tops and add them to the mix and, because the mix is already hot, bake time is only about 45 min.
01/05/2016
Keen basic recipe! I made it acc to Chef john's instructions and they came out perfectly! I used 1lb footing beefiness and 1/2lb sugariness Italian sausage. To the meat I added actress garlic, shredded carrots, herbs de provence, and a niggling sauteed onion forth with Chef John's ingredients. I finished off some jarred spaghetti sauce and also used crushed tomatoes. As suggested by some other reviewer, I cooked brown rice in the beef stock with a bay leaf and a clove of garlic. When adding the meat mixture to the peppers, I added a piffling of the tomato sauce half manner, then more than meat, then topped with more sauce and the lids. I will line the baking sheet with foil next time. My entire family loved it! Cheers, Chef John!!
11/14/2015
I have to confess, I don't like peppers! But, I ate two of these! I used beefiness and venison, dark-brown rice and a can of burn roasted tomatoes and a pocket-sized can of love apple sauce and stale parsley since I didn't take fresh. Otherwise I tried to follow the recipe pretty exactly. It was very good and was done in an hr and a half. I will exist making this again, merely not in a 9x13 pan...it's just too big. I'thou going to utilize a taller casserole dish next time. I had about a loving cup and a half of meat mixture left over and made six footling meatloafs in a muffin pan with that. It's very, very practiced!
09/08/2016
really great recipe. I used ground sirloin and italian sausage. I was out of worcestchire sauce then i used teriyaki sauce in its place. I likewise used 2 bags of Steam Fresh Birdseye Southwestern style rice (microwaveable) which saved some fourth dimension. I used two bags to cut downward on the meat and plus nosotros love rice. This was a neat recipe that i topped off with a piece of provolone under the broiler for a few minutes ( to brown). This was easier to prepare than my usual recipe.
08/08/2019
This recipe reminded me and then much of my momma'south stuffed bong peppers when I was growing up! I love how flavorful Chef John fabricated information technology with the added scarlet flakes! Perfect! I did notice that the video says one/2 cup of beef broth only the recipe says ane cup. I call up 1/ii cup should be used in order to have a little thicker sauce! Honestly, this is a must try recipe because it is spot on! Love this and thanks Chef John!!
03/31/2016
This is a very simple all in one repast to set up and easy cleanup. The sauce, although quite basic, had a nice flavor and went well with the peppers. The filling was practically a meatball in consistency later baking which I liked, merely my wife said she would prefer more rice and less meat. I wanted to follow as written so didn't read others' tips and overall this makes a nice dinner, particularly with hot sauce. Next time I will probable add some boosted seasoning and possible use yellowish rice to enhance things a fleck. Keep helpin me wait good Chef John!
09/10/2016
Fabricated this final night and information technology was delicious! I did employ greenish peppers instead of red and I switched out the rice and used Farro in its place. Adjacent time I'll likewise add together more than onion since nosotros all dearest the gustation.. Also, since I went a little over on the quantity of meat, I rolled the remaining meat mixture into tiny meatballs and put them in the sauce in between the stuffed peppers.
09/27/2015
Came out neat, even my two yr old was eating the peppers! I only used a pound of footing turkey, and I added all the reserve love apple sauce to the meat mixture. After stuffing, I used the sauce from the pan to garnish the tops. And I used curly parsley, it was amazing. I did follow the recommendation to put a cookie sheet under the dish. I think this helped continue them moist, and the bells slightly crisp. I used orange bells.
04/01/2015
Had lots of left over rice and then added it to browned upwardly ground beef, onion, jalapeno and our seasoning preferences. I cut our peppers lengthwise ( personal) and broiled with some seasoned diced tomato, about 45 min. Very nice, easy dish. Would love to endeavor with Italian sausage.
02/15/2016
I microwaved the peppers for about 7 to 10 min, in order to soften them, as well precooked the sauce on stove. I was running tardily on time, yes I'll cook this again.
04/27/2019
I always loved my mom's stuffed peppers growing up which was basically meatloaf, blimp in raw green peppers. When I got older and looked up the recipe, I saw it had rice, the meat was sauteed and peppers fair-skinned offset. I just went back to my Mom'south way. But this recipe is my Mom's on steroids. I added 1 egg and a little staff of life crumbs to the meat mixture and used Italian diced tomatoes forth with the tomato plant sauce. Information technology was delicious! The sauce is so expert; helps keep everything moist. He's right, the cookie sheet makes it have longer but establish it cooked evenly. I like the suggested way to cut the peppers and using the lid. You lot can get alot more than meat in in that location. I made 4 and heaped them high like an ice foam cone. This will at present exist my go to recipe.
07/27/2016
I used ruby bell peppers, Italian sausage instead of ground beef and quinoa in stead of rice (diabetic household) and used very little salt.. Used mozerella cheese crusade that'due south what Ihad on hand. I made 3 for me and 3 for my husband who likes a more than spicy flavour. In his I added Mrs. Dash Actress Spicy Seasoning and a pinch of habanero. They were delicious and nosotros will definitely make them over again. My married man who is a Picky Eater and was quite hesitant about trying this, loved his. They re-warm up very well in the microwave.
08/ten/2014
Commencement time having stuffed peppers. Used this recipe. Turned out awesome. I loved the heat from pepper flakes. Used Rinaldi spag sauce instead of plainly tomato plant sauce. Will definitely brand again.
08/26/2016
The rice was mush because information technology was already cooked, the bell peppers were almost raw.
05/05/2014
Yum! Great second phase food for infant!
03/22/2015

08/01/2014
Very good, groovy utilize of left over rice with not much burger. Economical and yummy!
07/12/2016
Was in a pinch for time, so wanted to cook everything first. Here were my changes: -Simply sliced the tops off 5 peppers (no other messing with them), and roasted them 15 min @ 425 past themselves right on the oven rack (needed double this or increased heat) -Cooked the ane/ii finely cut onion and tbsp garlic in a pan, added one-half to the sauce at the bottom of the baking dish, left half in the pan. -Added sweet italian flavored basis chicken to the pan, added ~ 1T of it. seasoning and cooked until done. I followed the rest of the recipe & these turned out fabulously. Side by side time I'll use a little more sauce in the meat mixture, which is how my mom used to brand them. My husband and I both said "keep!" to this recipe. I'll brand these again!
05/13/2015
Made with 1/2 basis beef and 1/two sugariness Italian sausage. Stuffed in green peppers. Delicious - Thanks Chef John
02/26/2017
Smashing dish, merely takes much longer to cook. Nosotros at present cook the ground beef most 50% prior to placing in peppers, equally you however demand enough time to soften the peppers.
11/04/2016
I precooked the meat. That felt safer. I dear the Italian flair. Side by side time I will do half Italian sausage. I besides added shredded cheese to the height after the spoons full of tomato sauce. I think it needs more sauce in the peppers.
03/23/2020
I make it a different way and less fourth dimension consuming. I take out the core and all the seeds...then I boil the bell peppers x min ...while boiling I brown the ground beef onions with tomatoes sauce of your liking and as well seasonings of your liking....I like the knorrs rice seven minutes and so I mix in with the ground beefiness...I and so set bell peppers on a cookie sheet I put shredded Mexican cheese on lesser and so fill with stuffing and sprinkle and repeat with Mexican cheese on top put in oven for 350 degrees or make full cheese is melted....normally only takes about nigh 5 to vii minutes and voila washed!!! My fiance...picky kids and friends difficult workers love this recipe.never failed...please savor
01/26/2016
I used i cup mozzeralla and 1/2 parmesan. I too substituted the parsley for oregano, thyme, and basil. I used chicken goop instead of beef broth because...well...oops. I added in spinach and mushrooms. I used Prego three cheese tomato sauce.
08/04/2015
Loved this recipe! Brought dorsum memories of Mom making stuffed peppers when we had an affluence of bell peppers in the garden. I made this recipe gluten-free and dairy costless because of food allergies in the family unit. Wonderful and piece of cake to make. Next time I brand rice, I will brand enough extra to have a head start on this recipe.

01/23/2019
I'm in the process of making this at present but in the video you lot say to use i/two a cup of goop simply the recipe says ane loving cup. You said put 2 1/2 cups of tomato sauce in the pan but so we demand more than to put on top of the peppers and the same with the parsley. I'm but a little confused merely hopefully it turns out good...
03/08/2019
I sprinkled mozzarella cheese over each one , yummy!!!!!!!!! These are perfect blimp bell peppers!!!
03/nineteen/2017

ten/10/2019

WAS led to believe they are of High german origin? The friend is Jerry Younger from the Far-Mar-Co Company. The Western Kansas community is Hays Kansas on I-70!
02/17/2020
I've fabricated this keeping to the verbal ingredients and it'southward a winner. However, this night I made information technology again but noticed I didn't have enough basis beef so, I took some cooked pork chorizo I had in the freezer to make upwards for the footing beef. It was five stars earlier...but with the chorizo it'due south half dozen stars.

03/31/2020
I only made it for 2 and it still was amazing!!! Just enough spice to make it
08/22/2018

06/13/2016
This is all-time recipe I've come across. Husband talked me into making for him at present I'm a fan likewise!
04/21/2021
This is a recipe to hang onto! So I took the communication of some other commenter and I boiled the bell peppers while I browned the meat. I let my oven preheat at 375 and cooked one pound of burger and a one-half pound of turkey sausage with olive oil, garlic, a can of mushrooms ,and part of a couple dark-green onion. While I let the grease drain off to the same pot I added a can of diced tomatoes, a tin can of tomato sauce, garlic from a jar, and the rest of the green onions. I seasoned with dried tyme, parsley, chili flakes, crushed bay leaves, and pepper. I added the meat back to the sauce forth with my jasmine rice (rice cooker is a life saver). Equally yous tin see I used a Dutch oven (and posted 3 times because I didn't know what I was doing) at that place was no need for me to cut the bottoms because they all fit in the lesser nicely and could've fit a seventh. I used cooking spray on the bottom then assembled, mozzarella, filling, mozzarella, top of peppers. In that location was filling left over I merely piled it into the heart and covered information technology with cheese too. After I let the whole thing cook for x minutes I broiled the top so the cheese got brown. So much fun to make and very very tasty.
01/31/2019

03/22/2015
My wife is making me gear up this for her once again tonight. Need I say more than?
07/24/2016
Double batch for lunches and freezing. Very skillful but 2d batch turned out better. Boosted parsmesan and a fiddling mozzarella likewise as diced tomatoes instead of tomato sauce. My new favorite blimp pepper recipe. Also added quite a bit more garlic. Personal taste. Excellent. Much easier than par-boiling peppers like my old recipe called for. The parsley was a different twist too.
05/01/2016
I used red peppers, wild rice, 1 can Italian style diced tomatoes &1 can Italian lycopersicon esculentum paste (instead of the mesomorphic lycopersicon esculentum paste), and vegan meat, delicious!
03/14/2017
I made this last night for dinner. Hubby and I really enjoyed it, nosotros switched the serving size downwards to four and so there would exist leftovers to take to dejeuner. Really glad nosotros did that. Only thing I would change is the amount of sauce, I would adopt there to be more sauce and thicker.
01/10/2017
I think this is one of the best Beef and Rice Stuffed Pepper recipes I've ever made. The beef is very flavorful and the sauce is delicious. I used 1 pound ground beef and 1 pound mild pork sausage. I used both sweet red and dark-green peppers that were quite large.
08/09/2017
My go-to recipe for stuffed peppers! I used to make them a sure mode for 10 years, but this is the way I make them from at present on. I admittedly beloved the onion and tomato sauce these peppers cook in. Information technology is so good spooned over the peppers, and a lot of times I have leftover sauce that I can re-utilise in other recipes, or enjoy in a bloody mary. This is a classic, simple, comforting dish that anybody will love. I can't await for Fall/Winter to roll in so I can start using my oven again!!
04/26/2018
Just made it for dinner tonight. Succulent ??!!!!! Merely matter that I did different was that U used tomato sauce with cheese already in it. It was dollop practiced ??. Information technology reminds me of my grandmothers so thought I would try it. :) I inverse a few things, I had just fabricated homemade salsa (pico) so I used this along with ane cup of canned tomato sauce. 03/07/2020
My girl and friend loved it! Absolutely delicious!
08/24/2020
I have made this so many times over the years, for guests and merely for united states of america. I always utilise some grade of marinara, either homemade or if I am lazy, jarred. Yesterday I used a jar of Mid'southward Marinara. I always slice a whole sweetness onion and apply red and yellow peppers. I had bought a new chunk of parm but ended up using the remnants of some leftover parm, cheddar, and a footling cojack from the fridge that we had shredded over the past calendar week for other meals and it was not bad. I can't imagine always going back to the quondam way of making stuffed peppers. I love Chef John.
04/26/2019
I mixed 1 lb ground sirloin and 1/ii lb pork sausage, plus all the other ingredients and made 3 blimp peppers. They were succulent. Yum. I'll do this once more with out a doubt.

04/20/2019
I seasoned the meat to taste just overall groovy recipe! Also, I used different colored peppers
10/31/2016
Fabricated it essentially by the given recipe but took a few shortcuts: used dried onionbits in the sauce and the same lycopersicon esculentum sauce in the meat as in the pan- not a mesomorphic i. Of class I had to sprinkle more grated cheese on pinnacle towards the finish. Everyone loved it from the 1 yr former to the 70 yr erstwhile! Will be making this again.
02/02/2022
I added Italian sausage, minced garlic, beef base and substituted tomato paste for love apple sauce in my mix. I likewise added onion soup mix and cut the common salt intake to 1/ii tsp. And used spaghetti sauce for my pan base. It was so skilful!
03/02/2015
Delicious!!! My toddlers ate it and my husband fifty-fifty ate the leftovers.
08/07/2017

GREAT RECIPE!!! We have a big family then I doubled up on recipe with leftover meat made meatballs was excellent no leftovers.
x/02/2020

10/27/2020
Great stuffed peppers I changed to red peppers because I do non like green
09/09/2021
Succulent! I used basis turkey and veggie bouillon instead of beef broth. The pan sauce with crushed blood-red peppers is spicy, so I wiped it off the outside of the bell pepper earlier giving it to my i-year-old. She loved information technology!
10/29/2017
This was a good recipe but I didn't have the correct stuff....I had Minute Brown Rice that I didn't cook...I didn't brown the basis chuck, I cut the onions very small and didn't soften them....cooked the dish hr covered and a half hour uncovered....I likewise added a can of Italian tomatoes 1/2 in making meat and rice stuffing and half with the tomato plant sauce, I only had a 8 ounce can.it turned out great and was moist and rice was done very flavorful...Cheers, Happy Cooking!
04/02/2019

01/19/2020
Kickoff time making blimp bell peppers I wish I can upload my picture it was pretty good I retrieve if I would have let the bell peppers cook a little bit more longer it wouldn't be so hard but yet soft and some places the ingredient was definitely like shooting fish in a barrel to make with the hamburger seasoning and cook rice and onions I'll definitely try it a different manner only overall information technology was okay.
12/09/2016
Just made this, very good. Keeper recipe, will make again. I did as another person did, used one tin of diced tomatoes and a can of tomato sauce. Did broil for 2 hours though. I used red and orange peppers, simply like the season of those peppers better.
02/21/2020

04/10/2017
I followed all the instructions merely I felt the peppers were not equally juicy as I expected them to be, the meat was more of a hard brawl in the middle. The taste of the filling was good. I will endeavour them again but this time i recall i will melt the beef separately.
